Cranberry Pond is a 28-acre freshwater pond located in Franklin County, around six miles outside Sunderland, Massachusetts. Boston is situated 102 miles southeast, and Springfield, Massachusetts, is 37 miles south.

The Bradley International Airport is located 57 miles south in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The closest place for urgent care is the Baystate Franklin Medical Center, 11 miles north in Greenfield, Massachusetts.

Mount Toby State Forest

Cranberry Pond is located within the Mount Toby State Forest, one of the many in Franklin County!

This 755-acre forest is known for its great hiking trails that lead to mountain views! There are also caves, ponds, a bike path, and numerous opportunities for wildlife observation.

Back on Cranberry Pond, a boat launch with concrete pads is available off of Reservation Road. Only electric boats, kayaks, and canoes are allowed here.

Once you're out on the water, cast a line out! Fishing is popular here during the summers and winters as well. Species include bass, pumpkinseed, bluegill, pickerel, and trout.

The Zoo in Forest Park is a not-for-profit zoo that houses over 200 native and exotic animals. It features a diverse array of mammals, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, and amphibians.

While at the zoo, check out the beautiful 700-acre park it's nestled in. Designed by the father of modern landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted, many consider Forest Park the jewel of Springfield.

Visitors will enjoy courts and fields for sports like baseball, basketball, tennis, bocce, and soccer. The many trails, roads, and paths surrounding the park are a beautiful setting for a walk or run.

For the sports fan in the family, visit the Basketball Hall of Fame. This modern building plays host to exhibits documenting the history and evolution of the game.

If you're a history or weapons buff, check out the Springfield Armory, the U.S. Armed Forces primary weapons manufacturer from the Revolutionary War to 1968.
